about

The only unreleased Main Rock release finally available in digital form for FREE...

Main Rock Records proudly presents ‘Prison Earth’, a truly unique audio journey by Apocraphe and Disebeats – part radio play, part Orwellian nightmare, part Hiphop opera, but all lyrical vision and soundscapes.

Prison Earth follows the journey of Nick, an everyman trying to make a living in a world paralleling our own, changed by fear over a fifteen year period. Divided up into the Prologue, Act 1, Act 2 and the Epilogue, each section moves forward five years from the initial events of 2005, when sarin attacks on Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus take the place of the 7/7 bombings, resulting in the deaths of hundreds. From these terrifying beginnings an accelerated restriction of civil liberties in the name of safety and security occur, allowing us to observe through the microcosm of Nick’s life the impact each change brings to the average citizen.

The story is matched in its development and direction by the incredibly varied and versatile aural explorations of producer Disebeats - from the heavy reggae flavour of ‘Cages And Bars’ featuring Calvin, to the laid-back jazzy vibes of ‘Technology Takeover’ featuring underground US legend Wildchild (Lootpack), UK heavyweight Cappo and jazz diva Carol Leeming (U.S. dance billboard chart-topper with Staxx of Joy), to the dubstep-style bass vibrations of Rote Learning. Disebeat’s production is crafted and constructed to underlay and compliment the differing voices and views, moments and moods of Apocraphe and guests’ lyrics, exploring concepts of freedom, power and control in an ever changing world.
With guests also including John Berkavitch (UK Slam Poetry Champion 2007), Joseph Macwan of Out of Karma, and Main Rock stalwarts Baron Samedi and Troy Scalpels, this is a crystal-ball of a concept album – a visionary journey into a world whose future contains the same pitfalls and potentials as our own, and where decisions made in the here and now such as when and where we draw our lines in the sand, dictate more than our ability to earn money or provide for our families – they decide where the prison walls are formed, and who truly holds the key.
